28 weeks 2 days

Woohoo!  Third trimester!  That means only 12 weeks to go!  I am so not ready.  But we still have three months and two or three baby showers and a diaper party, so that will certainly help a bit.

The crib is finished!!!  My birthday was Saturday and during my daily nap, Josh finished the crib and it looks so cute with all the custom bedding! It seems really high up but she won't be able to sit up or stand for a while so that's ok I guess.  I'm tired of hoarding all these nursery pictures. So here is the crib!

Now I just have to hang up my pom poms, get shelves and get the handles on the dresser.  Oh! and when we go home in Aug/Sept we will bring back Josh's rocking chair. Then I just have to organize baby clothes and the changing table.  The closet in the nursery is still filled with my dresses and three giant suitcases.  I think they just might stay there.  I really have no where else to put them and I think the dresser is big enough for all of her clothes.

Annie got a hold of a pom pom and it was too late to stop her.  Then Reaver got jealous so he took it from her and ripped it up.

So Josh is leaving for three weeks.  =(  I'm sad.  Hopefully the time will go fast.  I remember the last time he was gone for three weeks.  It was pretty easy until about half way through.  I said to him, "You're going to come back and I'm going to be huge" and he says, "Well, keep doing your workout dvd."  I'm talking about my belly, not about getting fat.  I wonder how much bigger I will look to him after not seeing me for 3 weeks.  He is going to be so busy where he is going, I hope I will be able to keep busy too.

I'll leave you this week with some birthday pictures from this weekend. I turned 23 on the 28th and Josh turned 24 on the 30th.  When I asked him how it felt to be 24 he said, "It's about time."  =]

27 weeks 2 days

New this week is Pubic Symphysis Diastasis.  The left side of my pelvic bone has hurt the last month or so and within the last couple of days, the right side started hurting too.  It just felt like someone kicked me and it was bruised, so for the heck of it, I googled it and it's a real pregnancy thing.  This is what I found on About.com: "This is where, usually in later pregnancy, the hormone relaxin causes the pelvis, particularly at the pubic bone, to loosen. In general, this is a good thing as it makes birth easier for mom and baby. However, sometimes the separation is exaggerated and can become quite pain for the mother at the end of pregnancy or in the early postpartum period."  Then there was this picture:
Labor - Station Pelvis
So does that mean she flipped and her head is down?  I read that she should be working on that around this time.  Maybe since I've felt more pelvic bone pain in the last couple of days, that means her head is down.  I'm not sure.

I had it in my mind that we were doing maternity pictures and I wanted a 3D/4D ultrasound because the ultrasound I had was at 18 weeks and my doctor/midwives won't issue anymore unless there is a problem and I was going to pay for one because I love ultrasounds and I don't think I could go 22 weeks without seeing my baby at all.  Josh doesn't really like 3D ultrasounds because it freaks him out I guess.   He also thinks maternity pictures would be silly since I already take a picture every week.  So I said since I want to do both and he wants to do none, we will do one and he can pick.  He picked 3D/4D.  I think that's what I would have picked too.  So I have to set that up and find out about the pricing.  We will do that sometime after Josh gets back from Alaska and before we go to Ohio.  I'm so excited because we will (hopefully) be able to see what she will look like!
Unofficially, he is supposed to leave right after his birthday, but still hasn't gotten dates for sure yet.  Just as long as it's not before his birthday.  But it's really sneaking up on me!  He said he would finish the crib before he leaves.  I better start nagging him about it.  My sister is flying to visit me for about 4 days while he is gone.  That will break up the weeks and hopefully make it go by faster.  And I will have someone to go to the Missouri State Fair with! So while he is gone, I want to get my pom poms hung up (if not before), get shelves up, and some wall decorations.  Like those prints I have been meaning to order...

26 weeks 3 days

This week Penelope opened her eyes!  Her vision is not so great and there probably isn't much to see anyways.  I read that she can sense my mood.  If I'm happy, then so is she but if I'm constantly stressed, then it can hurt her brain development.  They tell you that then tell you not to stress out. Psh, ok.

I had a very quick prenatal appointment yesterday.  It took us longer to drive there than the whole visit took.  I met the last midwife today.  She seemed to be in a rush so I didn't want to bother with asking her questions.  Which kind of sucks since I only go to the doctors once a month.  Anyways... I had to do some test for anemia and gestational diabetes right after.  Everyone was telling me that the drink they make you drink before they take your blood is horrible and gross. I actually really enjoyed it.  I'm wondering if they recently changed the drink.  It tasted very sugary, but I liked it. Just like fruit punch with a little too much sugar.  So I was confused the rest of the day, wondering if they got new, tastey drinks, or if no one really liked it.  So confusing to me.

So I feel like the rest of the pregnancy is going to fly by.  I'm two weeks from my third trimester.  Josh leaves for Alaska in a few weeks.  After he gets back, we leave for Ohio for 2 weeks.  That will be a busy 2 weeks with a trip to Chicago and a baby shower in there.  After we get back, I will be busy finishing the nursery with all the baby shower stuff.  Then I have my Missouri baby shower.  And probably quit work at that point. THEN a month til Penelope is due!  Which is probably going to be hectic and a scramble to the finish.

I'm really ready for her to be on the outside.  She is kicking a whole lot.  Probably to remind me that she's actually in there and there is a reason my belly is so big.  Just makes me want to cuddle her, especially when I can feel body parts when she kicks.  And she is starting to pack a punch.  Josh can just sit and watch her move around in my belly.

25 weeks 3 days

In honor of the All Star game!
(which Josh got to attend and hold the giant flag on the field during the national anthem!)

This week Penelope has been moving around a lot.  Once in a while she kicks really hard.  I'm afraid it will start to hurt soon.  I was pushing against my stomach and she kicked my fingers, that was pretty cool.  I also actually felt her foot or hand! It wasn't just a nomal kick, it was like a little baby foot. So cute! No stretch marks on my belly yet!  and my hip tattoo looks great.  I took my belly button ring out over a year ago and my scar looks weird. Not gross, just... bruised I guess.

We started to do more with the nursery.  Josh finished painting the crib and we started to put it together but are missing pieces.  So irritating. Sometimes it takes him a while to get motivated about certain things so I'm not sure when the crib will be up and ready.  But I did get some baskets to put under the changing table, a lamp and painted the handles for the dresser.  My friend Manda came over the other night to help me make pom poms to hang up in the corner or the nursery.  I don't think the nursery will be complete until October since that's after my showers.

Speaking of baby showers, some other wives on base offered to throw me a shower.  It's going to be exactly one month before my due date.  I'm looking forward to that.  It will be about 2 weeks after I get back from my Ohio baby shower.  I just feel like the last month I'm going to have to cram and buy all the things that I still need that I didn't get from baby showers.

I started working out.  Well I did for the first time today at least.  I know, I know, 25 weeks pregnant is a little late to start, but it's better than not working out at all, right!  I decided to go with Denise Austin because growing up, my mom only had one workout tape and it was hips, thighs and buttocks.  I don't think any of us made it through the whole workout.  We made fun of it a lot too since it was from the 80s and everyone was in the spandex and legwarmers. haha. So I needed to give her another chance.  I enjoyed it.  She's very encouraging!  It did make me feel good to know which workouts are ok to do.  A few weeks ago we went to a Royal's game and my legs killed me for probably 3 days from walking up and down the stadium stairs so much.  I'm looking forward to being in shape again after baby.

So I went to my HR office today to see what the deal is with maternity leave and whatnot. What I was confused about is having the baby Oct 22ish, the golf course closes Dec 1 (which is about 6 weeks later, when I would return to work), then I thought I could collect unemployment for a few months and start working (a few days a week) when they open up back in March.  I found out that they only hired me until Oct 31.  My boss will have the option of rehiring me next season, which is kind of annoying.  I'm sure he will hire me back since I worked there almost the whole season this year.  But won't be able to collect unemployment (as far as I know) during the off season. So, I'm not sure when to actually leave.  Maybe a few weeks before I deliver.  I can't imagine working up to my due date even though I know a lot of people do.

Out birthdays are coming up!  Mine is July 28 and Josh's is the 30th!  I feel like I'm getting old, but then again, I can't imagine being any younger. hmmmm.  But these are also the ages we planned on starting a family, so it works out.
looks like she is already running out of room.

24 weeks 2 days

Penelope is anywhere between 1 and 2 pounds, depending on what website you visit.  She can also realize if she is upside-down or right-side-up now.  If she was born right now, she would have a 40% survival rate; that is actually comforting to me.  Crazy that I'm at the 6th month mark and only 4 weeks away from my 3rd trimester. My feet have started to swell and hurt for hours after standing for a while.

Haven't done anything with the nursery since my mom and dad visited.  I don't think it will be completed until after the baby shower.  Right now, Josh needs to finish painting the crib so we can put it together.  I need to find handles for the dresser and buy some prints off Etsy for the walls.  These are some that I like.

Other than that, not much has been going on since last week. Josh and I were at church yesterday and he actually saw Penelope kicking.  Pretty cool. Oh, I just took a two-week break from school.  I'm pretty excited about that.  Sometimes it's overwhelming with work and school and housework and husband time.  Plus, I'm working almost full-time now.  I still need to check out the information on maternity leave.  Someone told me that once I hit 7 months I can't work more than 4 hours a day. If that's true, my work is going to be hurting.  Maybe I will go tomorrow to find out.

Happy Independence Day to all!
